Barrister Catherine George-Oshioreame is the Director of Legal Services at the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA). A veteran legal practitioner with over 33 years of post-call experience, she holds an LL.B (Hons) from Bendel State University and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. She is also an Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland, reflecting deep expertise in corporate governance.
As Chief Legal Adviser to NOSDRA’s Governing Board and executive management, she steers the agency’s statutory mandate under the NOSDRA Act. She commands all regulatory compliance, enforcement, and high-stakes environmental litigation within the petroleum sector. A critical stakeholder in national policy, she served as the strategic Focal Person for the implementation of Nigeria’s National Maritime Strategy and as an expert panelist reviewing the Harmonized Standard Operating Procedures (HSOP) for vessel detention and prosecution.
Beyond her distinguished public service and legal career, Barrister George-Oshioreame is happily married, with children, and deeply devoted to her family life. Her strong family foundation provides vital support, grounding her continued leadership and commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s environment.
