The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) is not running after oil companies but is statutorily working to ensure compliance with relevant environmental laws, regulations and guidelines in Nigeria’s critical petroleum industry.
This was made known on Thursday by the Director-General/Chief Executive (DG/CE) of NOSDRA, Idris O. Musa, during a meeting with the officials of National Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting was convened in relation to reviewing outstanding issues around the level of spot checks on oil impacted sites connected to NAOC’s facilities between 2021 and 2022 in parts of Bayelsa State, including Akaduame, Fantua and Kekediama, as well as their certification.
