Director General/ Chief Executive
Musa Idris Olubukola (Mr) was born on 17th September, 1957. He hails from Kogi State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (M.Urp) from University of Ibadan (1979 and 1995 respectively). He also obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Ilorin in 1992.
He has had a long career in the Environmental Field of public service spanning over two decades, this started with his employment to the defunct Federal Environmental Protection Agency in 1996. He moved to Federal Ministry of Environment in 1999. Musa, Idris Olubukola has since been deeply immersed in Oil Spill Management related issues. He was one of the Pioneer Directorate Staff of National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) in 2004 from where he was deployed to help man the operations department of The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) in Ogoniland. He remained there till he was appointed Director General/Chief Executive of the Agency in April 2019.
As a Seasoned Environmental Scientist, he has remained dedicated to helping make sustainability the watch word in Environmental practices, specifically in the Oil and Gas sector. In the course of his career, he has collaborated with International Agencies such as The Global Initiative for West, Central and Southern African (GIWACAF), United Nation (UN) and International Maritime Organization (IMO) amongst others. These collaborations lead to the production of various policies that have continued to shape Environmental Management in Nigeria and beyond. He has undergone several trainings, workshops and seminars both locally and international in Oil spill detection, response and management.
He is a member of United Nations Environment Program/United States Africa Command Oil Spill Preparedness, Nigerian Environmental Society (MNES). A registered and corporate member; Nigerian Institute of Town Planners.
